WIP is starting 2013 with a five colorway drop that will surely get you back to your roots:
The Headhunter series is WIP’s first collab with graphic and hip hop artist, Gap of People’s Future. Almost two years in the making, the series was inspired by the Filipino tribesmen of the mountainous province of Benguet. Historically, in times of warfare, rivals were hunted down and their heads were displayed along tribal borders to warn would-be trespassers of what awaits them should they even attempt to set foot on the land.
This new series of Headhunter caps comes in five limited runs of 125 pieces of each color.
The front panel of the six-panel snapback cap has a graphic logo of a tribal chief in monochrome 3D embroidery. If you would look closely, you can see how detailed and intricate the logo actually is, showing different textures of fabric and feathers.
The side logo depicts three shrunken skull heads which is actually a play on the three ghosts of WIP Caps’ iconic PAC-Q series, now part of official Team Pacquiao gear. The three skulls also represent the three members of the Manila-based hip hop group, People’s Future.
What you’d notice right off the bat is the handwoven native fabric, crafted by descendants of the Kalinga tribesmen from the mountain province.
This series drops in five colorways: white/blue, hot pink/yellow/purple, maroon/yellow/blue/black, aqua/black, and the classic maroon/black/yellow.
Available starting January 25, 2013 at select WIP Caps stockists. Cop one (or all five)!
